At BetMGM New Jersey, slots are the only realistic way to clear the deposit match. On the published weighting table, a dollar bet on slots counts as a full dollar toward the 15x rollover. A dollar on video poker or live dealer counts as 20 cents, and a dollar on non-live blackjack counts as 10 cents. The terms on the offers running this year go further: they say the match is valid only on BetMGM Casino Slots, and dozens of named slots count for nothing at all.

So play slots, and only slots that are not on the excluded list. The rest of this guide shows where those rules come from, how far they differ between BetMGM's own pages, and what to check before your first bet.

This matters because the clock is short. BetMGM's New Jersey welcome offer terms give you 14 days from the qualifying deposit to finish the 15x wagering. Every bet on a low-weighted or excluded game uses part of that window and does little or nothing to clear the bonus.

How the weighting table converts your bets

Game weighting is the share of each bet that BetMGM credits toward your wagering requirement. The rollover is a target in dollars, and each game category fills it at a different rate. The NJ welcome offer page publishes three tiers for the $1,000 deposit match, plus two categories the match cannot be used on at all:

Game type (BetMGM NJ welcome offer) Contribution Credit from a $100 bet
Slots, Jackpot Slots, Scratch Cards, Fixed Odds Games, Virtual Games 100% $100
Table Games, Live Dealer, Video Poker, Craps, Roulette 20% $20
Non-Live Dealer Blackjack 10% $10
Baccarat, Roulette (all variants) Deposit match cannot be used $0

Roulette appears in two rows. The same page lists it at 20% and also says the deposit match cannot be used on it. The safe reading is the stricter one: roulette does not help you clear this bonus.

The weighting table does not change the multiplier. It changes how much you have to bet to reach it. The 15x figure gives you the target in credited dollars. The weighting tells you how many real dollars of bets it takes to get there.

One $100 bonus, three games

Say you deposit $100 and receive a $100 match. At 15x, you need $1,500 in credited wagering inside 14 days.

Credited wagering required (15 × $100)$1,500
Bets needed on slots (100%)$1,500
Bets needed on video poker or live dealer (20%)$7,500
Bets needed on non-live blackjack (10%)$15,000

On blackjack, the same $100 bonus takes ten times the betting it takes on slots, with the same 14-day deadline. On video poker it takes five times as much.

For how the multiplier itself turns into dollars before weighting, see what a 30x requirement costs. The method is the same at 15x.

Where the terms narrow to slots only

The table above is not the whole story, because BetMGM's state pages do not all say the same thing.

NJ, 100% match up to $2,500. The NJ promotion page runs July 1 to December 31, 2026, with 15x wagering cleared within 14 days of registration. It states the bonus is "valid only on BetMGM Casino Slots" and excludes more than 50 slot titles entirely, including Blood Suckers, Dead or Alive, Monopoly MegaWays, Narcos and White Rabbit. The same page also lists table games, roulette, live dealer and video poker at 100%, which contradicts its own slots-only line. Until BetMGM resolves that, assume only slots count.

Michigan, $1,000 match. BetMGM's Michigan new-customer terms keep the 100/20/10 tiers. They exclude all baccarat, roulette, craps and sports wagers from the match. They also name specific slots that earn nothing: Apollo Pays, the Blood Suckers series, Butterfly Staxx, Conan, Dead or Alive, Fairytale Legends, Finn and the Swirly Spin, Guns N' Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Monopoly MegaWays, Motorhead and White Rabbit.

The current deposit match, as reported. A CasinoReports review updated October 8, 2026 says the live deposit match counts only qualifying slots and jackpot slots. Under it, table games, roulette and video poker do not count, and more than 70 slot titles are excluded. The review notes that the 100/20/10 split belongs to some earlier BetMGM promotions.

Playing excluded games burns your wagering clock without making progress.

What we could not confirm: this guide names only the excluded titles the sources name. The full lists run to 50, 60 and 70+ titles depending on the page, and they change. The list attached to the offer you claimed is the one that applies to you.

Low weighting versus excluded

These two terms are easy to confuse, and the difference costs real money.

A low-weighted game still moves the counter, just slowly. A $10 blackjack hand still credits $1. An excluded game moves it not at all, even when it looks exactly like the slot next to it in the lobby. On an excluded slot, you can bet the whole 14 days away and finish where you started.

Weighting also differs between parts of the same offer. Michigan's terms say all casino games count 100% toward the $25 FREEPLAY's 1x requirement, except Jackpot Slots, poker and sports, which the FREEPLAY cannot be used on. The deposit match then applies its own tiers and its own exclusions. Bonus Spins winnings, where offered, carry a separate 10x requirement, according to BetMGM's own explainer. A game that counts fully for one balance may count for nothing on another.

Before your first bet

  • Open the terms page for the exact offer you claimed

The $1,000 and $2,500 NJ pages differ. Use the page tied to your promotion, not a general help article.

  • Find the "valid only on" line

If it says slots, or slots and jackpot slots, treat everything else as zero toward the match, whatever the weighting table says.

  • Search the excluded list for the game you plan to play

Check by title. Popular slots such as Blood Suckers and Dead or Alive appear on several BetMGM exclusion lists.

  • Leave blackjack and video poker out of your clearing plan

At 10% and 20% they need ten and five times the betting slots do, and under slots-only terms they may count for nothing.

  • Note your deadline

In NJ it is 14 days. Count the days from the qualifying deposit or from registration, depending on which page your offer uses.

This weighting is wrong for one kind of player in particular: someone who mostly plays blackjack or live tables. If that is you, the match is not built for your games, and you should take the full dollar cost into account before you deposit.
